Pond & Aquarium Services - Royal Leamington Spa - 03 December 2011
Many Many Thanks Graham, the service I received was on equal par to the stunning quality of the 10 ton of Yorkstone I had delivered. My customer was absolutely delighted with the finished job. Graham virtually told me what stone would be best for the installation and helped me greatly when deciding what quantity to order and how to have it delivered. I need never go anywhere else and look forward to building many ponds in the Midlands with your Yorkstone.

Kind regards
Sean

Helen Calligan - Huddersfield - 09 July 2007
On a recent visit to our son and family in East Molesey, Surrey we took a trip to Hampton Court Palace where we saw a new educational building project under construction.

Much to our delight we spotted piles of stone wrapped in polythene and bearing the name Johnsons Wellfield Quarries, Crosland Hill, Huddersfield. We felt extremely proud to think that we came from Huddersfield and our local stone was being utilised at such a prestigious development.

It especially held a strong affinity to me as my late father worked at Johnsons Quarries as a stone mason when I was a child (many years ago!)

Howard and Mandy Stables - Bedfordshire - 29 April 2004
There were a number of reasons why we chose Johnsons Wellfield Quarries to supply the stone for our rather unusual landscaping project. We needed to support a collapsing garden boundary and redefine the path of a live and natural stream. Their hard York sandstone had all the properties we required for durability near running water and, most importantly, the stone looked good.

Travelling from the South we took a day trip with the family to the Quarry in Huddersfield and were treated to a real Yorkshire welcome. Though our requirements were unusual we were made to feel that almost anything was going to be possible. Over the next few months we liaised with them about the exact shape and size of almost every rock and they obliged.

Thirty tonnes of rock was finally delivered in two separate loads and arrived on time and without a hitch. We were extremely impressed with their determination to give us what we wanted - especially an attractive price! Now, eighteen months later, the stone has naturalised beautifully and planted up with wildflowers we think it looks pretty impressive. The photos bear testimony.

Ken France (President D.S.W.A) - Huddersfield - 15 March 2004
As a Master Craftsman and prominent dry stone waller of national and international repute, and President of the Dry Stone Walling Association of Great Britain, I am also a founder member of the DSWA’s West Yorkshire Branch. Promoting the natural environment is very important to me, and having worked with all types of stone in all areas believe the natural York sandstone of Johnson’s Quarries with its lovely textures, easy to work qualities and beautiful, subtle colours to be the finest available for use in dry stone walling.

Maturing well, it soon blends into the natural countryside. Using the stone in my demonstrations at large and small Agricultural shows, plus my personal work for both field and ornamental walling, I receive many favourable comments on its beautiful and long lasting qualities.

My walls are features that I take great pride in - knowing they will still be providing a beautiful and functional structure long after I’ve gone.

I am pleased to be associated with Johnson’s Quarries and the many wonderful walls that are now rising from the ashes of a long neglected craft.
