A reputation built on firm foundations
Originally founded in 1929 in the name of Isaac Timmins Ltd, the Myers Group can trace its modern day heritage back to 1959, the year in which Jack Myers was instrumental in establishing Readymix Huddersfield, the foundation of the Myers family business.
Jack had no option but to get involved in the construction industry, his father Hervey Myers was an established builder and Jack naturally followed his profession.
The Readymix operation diversified into building materials supply and acquisition of a natural stone production facility.
When Jack Myers passed away in 1991, his son John Myers took the helm as Managing Director with his sister Jackie Berry at his side. Determination to follow in their father’s footsteps gave John and Jackie the impetus to continue building the successful family business, which today supplies concrete and building materials throughout Yorkshire and natural Yorkstone throughout the UK.
Now in its fourth generation, the Myers Group is a thriving family business. The traditional values and morals that are synonymous with the Myers name have been vested in James Berry and Katie Berry, who in 2012 were handed the reins from their uncle John, now Chairman, and their mother Jackie.
Managing Director James Berry and his sister Katie Berry look back with pride at their family’s contribution to the construction industry and look forward with enthusiasm to continuing the family business.
